CAPM Practice: Explain when it is appropriate to use an adaptive approach

The product owner (PO) owns the product backlog — deciding what goes into it and in what order. The PO represents stakeholder interests, defines user stories and acceptance criteria, and makes prioritization decisions to maximize the value delivered by the team. The Scrum Master facilitates ceremonies and removes impediments; the development team does the work.

**Why not A:** Managing daily work assignments and resolving technical blockers are responsibilities of the Scrum Master (impediment removal) and the development team (self-organizing their own daily work). The product owner focuses on what to build and why — not on how the team executes the work day-to-day.

**Why not C:** Facilitating ceremonies and coaching the team on Scrum practices is the Scrum Master's role. The product owner attends ceremonies such as sprint planning and sprint reviews, but their responsibility is to provide business direction and prioritization — not to facilitate the process itself.

**Why not D:** Reporting project status and budget to senior management is a traditional project manager function. In Scrum, the product owner is accountable to stakeholders for product value and backlog decisions — not for financial reporting or organizational status updates, which fall outside the Scrum framework's defined accountabilities.
