Following planned strategies or frameworks means consulting existing documentation first. The risk register and risk management plan contain pre-defined response strategies for identified risks, which should be reviewed and executed before taking other actions.

**Why not A:** Holding an emergency team meeting may be warranted later, but the first step should be reviewing existing documentation. The risk register and risk management plan may already contain pre-defined response strategies that can be activated immediately.

**Why not B:** Updating the project schedule to reflect a delay is premature. The risk has been identified but may have a documented response that prevents or mitigates the delay. Schedule adjustments should follow after response strategies are evaluated.

**Why not C:** Immediately escalating to the sponsor bypasses the planned risk management process. The risk management plan contains response strategies and escalation criteria that should be consulted first to determine if escalation is warranted.
