CAPM Practice: Determine how project methodologies influence business analysis processes

BAs often lead value stream mapping as a requirements technique: facilitating current-state process documentation, waste identification (unnecessary steps, waiting, rework), and future-state design. The identified improvements become requirements that the project must deliver to achieve the desired process transformation.

**Why not B:** Value stream mapping is not exclusively a lean manufacturing tool. It has been widely adopted across software development, service industries, and business analysis as a technique for visualizing end-to-end processes and identifying waste. BAs regularly apply it outside manufacturing contexts.

**Why not C:** Mapping the value stream of BA activities themselves is an inward-looking exercise that misses the point. The BA's role in value stream mapping is to facilitate analysis of the organization's business processes, not to map their own workflow. The technique is applied to the processes the project aims to improve.

**Why not D:** Using value stream maps to plan the sequence of requirements review meetings confuses a process analysis tool with a scheduling tool. Value stream maps visualize how value flows through a process to identify waste and improvement opportunities, not to organize meeting logistics.
