Joining an existing team requires understanding the current system before changing it. BAs should first understand existing practices, then identify where BA expertise adds genuine value (requirements gaps, acceptance criteria quality, stakeholder communication) and introduce improvements collaboratively.

**Why not B:** Deferring entirely wastes the BA's expertise and fails to add value to the team. While respecting existing practices is important, a BA should still contribute their specialized knowledge. A mature team can still have gaps or blind spots that a skilled BA can help address through collaborative improvement.

**Why not C:** Immediately introducing formal deliverables disregards the team's established workflow and can create resistance. A mature agile team has refined its practices over time, and imposing new artifacts without understanding the current state risks disrupting what already works well and undermining trust with the team.

**Why not D:** Replacing all existing practices with textbook approaches is both disruptive and disrespectful of the team's experience. Mature teams have adapted practices to their specific context, and a one-size-fits-all textbook approach rarely accounts for the nuances that the team has already addressed through iteration and learning.
